COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Diabetes Prevention Programs (DPP) are well established in the literature as evidence-based and effective.   They are supported by many national organizations and endorsed by the CDC. Despite the widespread approval of the programs, little information exists in training program leadership how to effectively manage and sustain a program. This is critical information for long term program operations and management.

 

MODULE LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

As a result of participating in this activity the learner should be able to:

  • Identify best practices in program operations.
  • Conceptualize ways to set a budget for your DPP programs.
  • Apply the basics of fundraising.
  • Describe ways to fund raise effectively for DPP programs.
  • Identify sources of support for DPP programs.

Learning objectives apply to all professions in the target audience

 

TARGET AUDIENCE:

Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Preventative Medicine Physicians, ARNPs, PAs, and Nurses.  Registered Dietitians, Psychologists, Pharmacists, Licensed Social Work and Mental Health Professionals, Community Health Education Specialists, and all Individuals leading or interested in Diabetes Prevention Programs.

ACCREDITATION:

Physicians

USF Health is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

USF Health designates this enduring material for a maximum of 1.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)TM.  Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

 

Physician Assistants  

AAPA accepts certificates of participation for educational activities certified for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ from ACCME accredited providers.  Physician Assistants who participate will receive a certificate of completion commensurate with the extent of their participation.

 

 ARNPs

AANPCP accepts certificates of participation for educational activities certified for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ from ACCME accredited providers.  Nurse Practitioners who participate will receive a certificate of completion commensurate with the extent of their participation.

 

Nurses

USF Health is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

A maximum of 1.0 contact hours may be earned by learners who successfully complete this continuing nursing education activity.

There are no prerequisites for this course.

Registered Dietitians
USF Health, CO001, is a Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Accredited Provider with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) from 2/22/17 to 2/21/18.  Registered dietitians (RDs) and dietetic technicians, registered (DTRs) will receive up to 1 Level 1 continuing professional education units (CPEUs) for completion of this program/materials.   Continuing Professional Education Provider Accreditation does not constitute endorsement by CDR of a provider, program or materials.

 

Pharmacists

USF Health is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. This knowledge based program has been approved for 1.0 contact hours (0.3 CEUs).  Universal program number is as follows: 0230-0000-16-017-H01-P

Please note:  Pharmacists are responsible to assure the accredited provider has a record of their birthdate (DD/MM) and their ePID/NABP number.  The provider is required to upload to CPE Monitor, within 60 days of the activity, the attendee records of all learners who have claimed credit and supplied the provider with their birthdate and ePID/NAPBP number. 

 

Florida Licensed Clinical Social Workers, Licensed Marriage & Family Therapists, Licensed Mental Health Counselors

USF Health is an approved provider of continuing education credits for clinical social work, marriage and family therapy, and mental health counseling.  This program has been reviewed and approved for up to 1, 50-minute contact hours.

Social workers, Marriage and Family therapists, and Licensed Mental Health Counselors licensed outside of Florida should check with their accrediting body or board on if/how they can how apply this certificate for their state related CE needs.

 

Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES)
USF Health has been designated as a Multiple Event Provider #98010, exp. 12/31/2020) of Category I continuing education contact hours in health education by the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, Inc.  This program has been reviewed and approved for up to 1, 60-minute contact hours for CHES event number AE2017339.

Psychologists

USF Health is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists.  USF Health maintains responsibility for this program and its content. This activity is approved for 1.0 CE credit.  Full attendance to the home based activity is required.  Partial credit will not be awarded. Level of learning is introductory.

 

Others   

Other healthcare professionals can receive a Certificate of Completion at an ACCME approved AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ activity.  Many licensing boards will accept this type of certificate.  If you plan to claim a “Certificate of Completion” it is a good idea to download these web pages and attach them to the certificate for your files.

PARTICIPANT COMPLETION REQUIREMENTS

  1. Review the required information:  target audience, learning objectives, and disclosure information
  2. Complete a short pre-course survey
  3. Complete the entire self-study activity
  4. Successfully pass the post-test with a minimum score of 80% (participant can retake the test to achieve a passing score)
  5. Complete the evaluation
